Question:
I am breastfeeding my 3-week-old daughter and she sicks up after every feed. Is this normal?

Answer:
Many babies sick up after every feed. As long as your baby is gaining enough weight - an average of 1 ounce (30 grams) a day for the first few months - then it's more of a nuisance than a real concern. You might want to burp your baby more often and try holding her in different positions during and after feeds. Sometimes that will minimise the vomiting. If you have concerns about your baby's weight gain or if the sicking up is more forceful (more like projectile vomiting), then be sure to tell her GP.
