Question:
My 7 1/2-month-old baby had five red bumps appear about 10 days ago. They disappeared a few days after she got them. Then yesterday she woke up with the exact same five bumps. This time they look and feel like ant bites, but the first time they were flat. They are in exactly the same place as five days ago. I have never had an insect bite reappear. What could they be?
Answer:
Red bumps on the skin could represent many different things, and without evaluating them it would be difficult to suggest a diagnosis. Insect bites, which are usually itchy, could persist in the same location for some time, but I agree that it would be unusual for them to disappear and then reappear. If the lesions persist or new lesions develop, your best bet would be to get your daughter examined by her GP.
